LA NASCITA DELLA SERIE DESERT SHIELD
Un imprenditore americano, Bruce Erikson, ebbe un'idea: importare orologi prodotti nell'URSS negli Stati Uniti. Bruce fondò una compagnia chiamata Timepeace Russian Watches Inc. e concluse un accordo con Vladislav Tsivilin, Direttore della Vostok Watch Factory di Chistopol. Dovevano essere forniti 10.000 orologi. Gli orologi destinati a commemorare la famosa azione militare - l'operazione "Desert Shield" - dovevano essere "orologi militari russi, pesanti, massicci, robusti" (secondo i ricordi di Tsivilin). Il quadrante fu progettato dal Flag Research Center e presenta una bandiera americana circondata dallo stemma saudita: due spade tribali incrociate (che rappresentano il Regno di Hejaz e il Sultanato di Nejd uniti nel 1932 per formare il Regno dell'Arabia Saudita) sotto una palma fenice. Ben presto, la quantità fu aumentata a 40.000 unità.

It's only been a couple of weeks but I'm very happy with the quality of this, my first Vostok watch. The crown took a little getting used to but I love the fact that I can manually wind this watch. Seems to hold time pretty well too. Really like the Vostok look, will probably be getting others. For the money, I don't think you can get a better watch. Scubadude service was excellent, too.
